About five months have gone by since I moved to Portland. Many things, regarding my personal life, have happened and I am thankful for both the good and the bad. When it comes to meeting up/going on dates with guys, it doesn’t take too long to figure out what their intentions may be. Though I am not an experienced pro with dating by any means, there are a few characteristics/traits that I have noticed in guys that typically lead to a hook up. Everyone is different, but I do tend to see a general trend. Here’s some of the common characteristics I have found with guys that have hook ups on the mind. Keep in mind that you may have known this for many years, but I have only recently began experiencing these.
1. Being invited over to his house (or vice versa) is usually the first step. Not all house visits lead to sex, but it is easier to work towards it in an environment where one person feels at home and the other feels safe.
2. If you are looking for sex, I’ve found one of the most common activity that leads to such desire is watching a movie or tv show at a house, whether it be yours or theirs. What may begin as two innocent guys watching a movie quickly turns to cuddling, which almost always leads to making out. When I first watched a movie on a laptop with a guy, I literally thought we were going to watch the movie. Not quite.
3. You can always be blunt and just say that you are “looking” now. Apps such as Grindr, Jack’d, Hornet, etc. are all places that this happens. These are essentially hook up apps, but I have met some guys on these apps that have lead to said hook ups.
These are the three scenarios that I can think of that have a high chance of leading to a hook up. I’m not encouraging hook ups, but I’m not going to bash them either. I believe guys are a bit promiscuous and I think that the younger you are, the more likely you are to fulfill that yearning desire to want to experience it all. I’d like to think that the older guys get, the more they would want to narrow their exposures down a bit. Everyone is different.
